Engraved by Will Trevethen for Henry Seile's 'Cosmographie'. later editions had the Seile name and date of 1652 replaced with Philippi Chetwind and 1666. One of the most fascinating aspects of this map is the erroneously mapped course of the River Niger, with many fictitious lakes in the interior and the Nile shown with its origin in the vicinity of the Congo, this conforms with the Ptolemaic concept of a river from Lake Zaire joining with another river from Lake Zaflan.
