The new World map from the Mercator-Hondius atlas after 1630, this is state 1. Highly decorative with portraits of Julius Cäsar, Claudius Ptolemy at the top and the author's father Jodocus Hondius and his mentor Gerard Mercator at the bottom. Similar in style to Speed with California as an island. New details include the Australian coastline extending towards New Guinea and the re-drawing of the north-east coast of Canada.
